In this week's round up...

Not a bad week overall here is this weeks's list

Comics

Hexed #4
The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft #1
Overlook #1
Lillim #2
Mysterius The Unfathomable #4
Soul Kiss #3
Johnny Monster #3

Overall it was a great week for comics. The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft and Lillim were iffy but pulled it together in the end. We shall see how they continue. Soul Kiss just keeps getting better and Johnny Monster # 3 ends the series with probably the best issue of the run. But the stand out is Overlook #1. This series is starting off great. With very interesting characters, a compelling story line, and some really good black and white art make this issue a home run. It has a kind of a gritty dirty feel to it and I look forward to see where it is taken.

Movies

Observe and Report (2009) 6
No Direction Home: Bob Dylan (2005) 7
Where in The World is Osama Bin Laden (2008) 6
K-PAX (2001) 7
Shiver (2008) 1
Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) 6
Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) 10
Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) 6
Ira and Abby (2006) 7
Bloodrayne II: Deliverance (2007) 1

Some good stuff here this week. But there is one obvious stand out. I do not give out a rating of a 10 lightly or often. Only when I feel a movie is truly something unique and compelling. Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father is one of those movies. It follows a film maker who was friends with Andrew Bagby who was brutally murdered "allegedly" by his fiance Shirley Turner as he travels across the country meeting with Andrew's friends and family making a documentary for Zachary Bagby (Andrew and Shirley's son) who would never get to meet his father. It also follows the legal procedures of Shirley being prosecuted and Andrew's parents trying to get custody of there grandson. If you are unfamiliar with this case as I was I recommend seeing this film before looking into it. It is truly shocking how the events transpire and to see how Andrew's parents dealt with the situation. It really is quite amazing how much these people went through and how they continued on despite their horrific situation. It is a film that should definitely be seen by all.

Books

Essential Daredevil Vol. 1

I also finished reading This collection of early Daredevil comicbooks. It was great to see the early years of the Daredevil story line as they introduced the "Man with No Fear"
